Benoit

A small and classic French restaurant-bistro from the beginning of the 20ies century. Every single detail features an authentic beauty and charm - white needlepoint lace curtains, a bunch of regular visitors and superb French food! Even a random tourist literally absorbs a special flavor of Paris there, yet, Benoit gathers mostly devotees. Although being located closely to the lively Rivoli Street and just a stone's throw from the Pompidou Centre, Benoit manages to stay unnoticed by casual passers-by.
Benoit first opened its doors in 1912 and is now one of the last authentic Parisian family deluxe bistros around. Sold to French gastronomy Guru Alain Ducasse in April 2005 by the Petit family, who had been its owners for three generations, Benoit has still preserved its friendly atmosphere and ancient traditions. A landlady herself and her daughter can be seen hustling about the bistro every evening. The service, always warm and friendly, seems a bit reserved towards those for whom French language is foreign. Nevertheless, it does not in the least take away its fine reputation. Everything is perfect there - its bread, its wine list and a genuine French cuisine - an excellent dining choice!
Enjoyment does not come cheap, however - a dinner for two costs approximately 160 euro. A table should definitely be booked ahead.
