Les Ombres

Author: Anothertravelguide.com0 COMMENTS

Full up every single night, Les Ombres is much favored among city guests as well as Parisians. There are several good reasons for that - Les Ombres is situated on the roof of Quai Branly, the museum of ancient civilizations, the restaurant as well as the museum building itself being designed by the prestigious French architect Jean Nouvel. Proponed by the former French President Jacques Chirac, Quai Branly is one of the brightest newcomers on the Paris museum scene, without doubt a place to see.
The best option is to visit the museum at daytime, leaving Les Ombres for night, as not only splendid food is for your enjoyment there but the splendid view of Paris as well. The centerpiece of the elegant and laconic interior is its glass wall and a ceiling, creating an appearance that the Eiffel Tower is almost within reach. Enjoy a candlelit meal, while twinkling lights of Paris are at your feet! Small ships cruise the Seine, little by little stars appear in the clear sky above and a man at next to you table presents his beloved a velvety jewel-case... And, indeed, Les Ombres, although seating more than 100 guests, possesses an ambience of a romantic dinner spot for special occasions.
Les Ombres is a restaurant-showroom, offering a stage for numerous mise-en-sc'nes. A great place to savor atmosphere - not a sophisticated culinary art. Yet, you will not be disappointed either, as one of the most well-known chefs, Joël Rebuchon's protégé, runs the kitchen. Menu features creativity and originality, but, taking into consideration restaurant's size, culinary miracles can not be expected. The same goes about a service - perhaps you will have to help yourself to wine now and then, as a waiter most probably will not manage to maneuver among the tables so fast. Though, it does not matter so much at all. Surrender yourself to the wonderful view and the ambience, and it will be your Paris dinner to remember! A table should be booked in advance. Although being opened at daytime, anothertravelguide.com firmly suggests Les Ombres for dinner. A price will be the same, 100 - 130 euro per person, depending on wine, while, particularly on a bleak day, it will seem like a cloud without silver lining - missing magic of a starry night.
