Potemkine

Potemkine is a real treasure box for passionate film aficionados. The entire essence of the small shop, in fact, is nutshelled in its name - Potemkine. If the name of Sergei Eisenstein's masterpiece and a cornerstone in cinematic history "The Battleship Potemkin" (1925) conveys any meaning to you, this address is worth visiting then. It has nothing in common with Fnac, Virgin Megastore and any other large mainstream stores or Hollywood popcorn-scented blockbusters. Potemkine can be compared with a university of filmmaking history - there you'll be able to find remarkable classic movie masterpieces, rediscover once-forgotten nuggets or see some brand new films, not screened at traditional multiplexes yet. Experimental and avant-garde, documental and animation films, Fellini, Eisenstein, Godard, Renoir, Kusturica, Bergman, Chantal Akerman, Stan Brakhage and many more, as well as series of famous Criterion Collection (USA) and Carlotta Films (France) are available there.
In collaboration with agnès b. DVD, the store offers its very own DVD collection, making therefore many rare films even more available.
Potemkine is situated in a once industrial, yet now trendy and unconventional Canal St Martin district, quite off the well-treaded tourism tracks where another face of Paris opens up to its visitors.
