Maria Luisa

Don't be fooled by the location - dangerously close to the touristy Rue de Rivoli, crammed with souvenir shops: Maria Luisa is indeed a legend. The owner of the shop (a boutique chain, actually) is Venezuelan Maria Luisa Poumaillou, and in 2008 the fruit of her enterprising thinking will turn 20. She has always been famous in the Paris fashion circles with her unique knack for unearthing new talents: she was the first who started to sell John Galliano and Helmut Lang in Paris.
Currently Maria Luisa stocks clothes by Ann Demeulemeester, Zac Posen, Balenciaga, Marc Jacobs, Alexander McQueen, Sophia Kokosalaki and others. Maria Luisa is also unique in that she knows how to find in designers' collections special items you are not likely to see in other shops. She speaks of her decision making as intuitive. Only things this lady falls in love with end up in her boutique. This has proved to be quite a successful concept.
