Kalakuri

Author: Anothertravelguide.com0 COMMENTS

The Kalakuri restaurant, bar and night club is currently Tbilisi's most stylish venue - the real spot to head to if you want to feel the pulse of life in today's Tbilisi. Although the Soviet-era building may look a bit scary from the outside, you will be greeted by a friendly doorman who will escort you straight to the lift.

The restaurant's third-floor terrace, with its Moroccan-style interior, is somewhat of an oasis of Tbilsi hedonism. First of all, there is an outstanding view. In the evening, the city's mountain churches sparkle in yellow, like pieces of amber. Directly opposite lie President Mikheil Saakashvili's latest playthings - the President's Palace and the new pedestrian Bridge of Peace. Then there is the public itself, the "golden youth" of Tbilisi, with their Iphones, Ipads and other modern accessories; along with the women in high heels and mini skirts - almost like from a fashion catwalk.

You should perhaps not take your evening meal here, for just like in other places of this kind, the cuisine is far from the best. However, for a glass of wine, a water-pipe and for people-watching, you would be hard- pressed to find a better place.
