Pur Pur

Pur Pur

Restaurant-bar-exhibition hall Pur Pur is located quite off the central streets, one would even say - in a slum area of Tbilisi. Yet the oasis of eclecticism and phantasmagoric chaos, perhaps the only one of its kind in Tbilisi, is definitely worth visiting. During three years of its existence, Pur Pur has become a favorite meeting and mingling spot of young people and creative folks of the city.

Covering three floors, Pur Pur resembles a true-life depiction of a grandma's closet, consisting of bits and pieces of different epochs. It's like an old photo album with scenes of bygone times coming back to life as you browse through its pages. Each piece of furniture and décor item is an individual entity, yet all together they create a harmonious picture, oozing style and coziness.

The basement floor features brick walls and stone floors covered with carpets, soft sofas with patterned cushions and tables decked out with multi-color coverings - a vibrant blend with an oriental touch! The first floor is home to a spacious exhibition hall with vintage piano at one side of the room. Dust never covers the old instrument as regular concerts of instrumental music and European post-rock are taking place there. One level up there is restaurant filled with light of different intensity. It comes from numerous lamps hiding under the shades of diverse shape and size, while the daylight is left outside, beyond its shuttered windows.

Pur Pur presents a very good French fare with a touch of local cuisine. According to local connoisseurs, Pur Pur is one of the best breakfast spots in the city and beyond any comparison for a joyous dinner with a bunch of good friends. You can try young Kakheti wine there, served in decanters as it has never been bottled.
