MitArt Hotel+Cafe

Although Berlin does not seem to be short of unconventional hotels, MitArt Hotel+Cafe is a special one. Its history dates back to 1989 when an art gallery exhibiting young local artists was opened, a little later followed by a small family-type hotel. In 2005, both the gallery and the hotel left its old address on Friedrichstrasse and moved to a new and more sophisticated location on Linienstrasse, Berlin-Mitte. Housed in a building once used for the National Military Printing Press, it surrounds you with peace and tranquility as soon as you step over its threshold (main entrance off the courtyard). Moreover, MitArt Hotel+Cafe sticks strictly to 100% organic principle with only natural materials being used in its 30 guest-rooms. The décor features wooden floors and a stylish blend of antique and modern, locally designed furniture. Adhering to a healthy asceticism, only the most essential amenities are available - no TVs or telephones in the guest-rooms, with exclusively organic toiletries in the bathrooms. Regularly changed artworks of local painters adorn the walls, while the ground floor houses a cozy organic café. MitArt Hotel+Cafe is sited just a few meters away from Orannienburgerstrasse with the centre of alternative art, Kunsthaus Tacheles, located there too.
