Q!

The architects who designed Q! are Graft, the same company that lent Brad Pitt a hand in decorating his mansion. Staying at this hotel is a genuine adventure. The interior combines chic mischievous minimalism with Kubrick's Space Odyssey. The bed and the bath are both part of the room's architecture. To be more precise, you have a bed that seems to be morphing into a bath via a veneered wave-like shelf thing. Which means that you also have a bath right next to where you are sleeping. Can't say that the whole arrangement is very practical: unless you are very careful with your ablutions, part of the water can end up in the bed. But there is also a shower (an excellent one at that) in the same room; the graphite colour stall is sunken into the wall. A stylised drawing of a naked human body adorns the ceiling but wall are covered in white imitation snakeskin. The gruong-floor bar is a true style gem - besides, the barman mixes a mean cocktail. And yet the best thing about the place is the spa complete with sauna. White sand instead of a floor (such a simple idea, isn't it?), chaise longues, excellent lighting... Lounging there with your bare feet in the sand is so great that for a moment you really believe that it's actually a beach.
