Liszt Ferenc Square

To see where Hungarians go to have a good time, you have to head for Liszt Square - a long and wide boulevard lined by countless tiny restaurants, bars and cafes. Do not expect to find gourmet cuisine and fine wine lists here; you won't find anything like that - no tablecloths, no attempts of creating subtle decors. The food they serve here is inexpensive and very moreish. Every night sees crowds of locals gather here; in the summer, the patrons fill the open-air terraces, perfect for a leisured meal and a nice chat. Surprisingly, there are very few tourists here - which guarantees a taste of the real Budapest.
