The great surrealist Salvador Dali would twirl up his moustache in approval - the restaurant Home is an amazingly witty and humorous simulation of a somewhat bizarre, dreamlike abode. Only a modest sign at the entrance marks this stylish spot, yet, in the evening, a doorman, spruced up in purple suit, encourages guests to dive deeper into its labyrinths. Tables are set in a dining room and in a small, green garden, too. Gigantic bird-cages with no birds but chandeliers residing in them, decorate one of the dining room walls. You'll notice also a pink pig under a bar counter and a white rabbit, both made of fine lacework of thin wires. A hunting trophy in the shape of horns hangs on a wall, while vases, photo frames and other design knick-knacks, much like at home, are placed on a massive, antique chest of drawers. Huge spherical lamps made of twisted nylon cords, like while sausages, hang from the ceiling. A little less formal café room boasts a huge tub - a genuine icon of the 21st century designer bathroom, sitting side by side with tables. A wooden ladder rests casually against the wall, serving as a towel dryer. The restaurant is located in the so called Milan's Zona Tortona - the creative heart of the city, and its interior is conceived by two local architects, Luca Rossire and Riccardo Salvi. The Home is one of the hot spots during the annual Milan Furniture Fair, and much favored by locals and foreigners for its excellent Sunday brunch. The restaurant is also known under the name Home Delicate Restaurant, and, likewise at any sophisticated household, its kitchen is managed by a professional cook, not an Italian mama.
