Villa Laetitia Residenze

Author: Anothertravelguide.com0 COMMENTS

An experience of a completely different Rome! The 1911 Villa Laetitia Residenze, designed by Armando Brasini and owned by the Fendi family, well known in the fashion circles, has been converted into a small 15-suite hotel. A newcomer on the hotel scene - opened in autumn 2006 - it is one of those addresses which are passed on word-of-mouth: hardly surprising since staying there is literally a pleasure for all five senses. The architecture is a blend of modernism and the classical Rome and, as befits any dwelling owned by a fashion house, the interior design is a genuine aesthetic dessert: the Black & White apartment, for instance, is furnished with a Mies van der Roche 1930 sofa; the Karl apartment is decorated with original sketches by Karl Lagerfeld. Vintage Murano chandeliers, a Sottsass table, furniture by Fendi Casa, etc. The service is made special by always adding a personal touch; by the way, Francesco, the man who will greet you on arrival, previously worked in the fashion business. A lovely, shady garden - so peaceful and quiet you may well be loathe to leave it at all. Villa Laetitia is located in a quiet residential area of the city on the bank of the river Tevere: no sign in sight, just a bell button at the gate (or a personal key if you are a guest). You can get anywhere on foot (the walk across the river through the Villa Borghese gardens is fabulous), by taxi or Metropolitana (metro) - the villa is two metro stops from the Pantheon. Renovation of the second building on the premises of Villa Laetitia is in progress; it will offer sophisticated luxury suites and a spa.
