Fondazione Querini Stampalia

This is a very special place, and not least because the 1528 palazzo houses an impressive library and collection of Venetian and Flemish art. The first floor of the building was renovated by the renowned Italian architect Carlo Scarpa in the early 1900s. (In 1949 the garden designed by Scarpa was also completed.) The next ambitious restoration project followed in the early 1990s: the Swiss architect Mario Botta was invited to create the design of the auditorium. On Fridays and Saturdays various concerts take place at Querini Stampalia; occasionally contemporary art exhibitions are held there.
