Gentleman of Verona

A relative newcomer to the field, the luxury boutique hotel Gentleman of Verona is one of the most requested in the city. Befitting a city that served as the setting for a whole three of Shakespeare's works – Romeo and Juliet, The Taming of the Shrew, and Two Gentlemen of Verona – now there is finally a hotel named after one of them. Even though the play in question has been deemed as one of The Bard's weakest, this cannot be said of its namesake hotel. As soon as one steps over the threshold of the 16th-century palazzo, finery and splendour shimmer in the air – but without any hyperbolic pomposity – thereby giving the establishment a pleasantly homey and intimate ambiance. Every room of the hotel is different, but the unifying elements are the same: velvet, gem-tones, a soft haze and lighting characteristic of the paintings created by the Old Masters. The hotel also features a restaurant, spa, wine cellar, and a small but charming inner courtyard with a garden.
