Boulangerie

Boulangerie is a legend on the local café scene, a place for which even many Rigans envy Liepāja. It's a family business, run by Mikus and Ieva Fomins. Mikus is a photographer, adventurer, and son of the famous Latvian musician Igo Fomins; Ieva is his wife and also a psychotherapist. They got the idea for the café after having lived for some time in London, France, and Italy (where Mikus worked as a fashion photographer). When they returned to Latvia, they realised that what they still lacked in order to be completely happy was fresh, warm French baguettes and croissants for breakfast. So the Fomins couple decided to do something about it – with passion, heart, and soul. And you can feel it as soon as you step inside Boulangerie. There's no other place in Liepāja with such delicious bread (traditional styles, but also with peppers, ginger, tomatoes, etc.), muffins and éclairs. The place usually hums like a beehive on Sunday mornings, when the brunch includes not only pancakes and omelettes but also soups, salads, and more. The Boulangerie recently opened a roof terrace, from which you can observe the activity at the Pētertirgus market nearby.
