Located in Riga's elegant Quiet Centre (Klusais centrs), the Galerija Māksla XO is one of the city's largest and most coveted art exhibition spaces. The building on Elizabetes iela 14, to which the gallery recently moved, dates from 1930 and is one the finest Functionalist-style edifices in the city. It was designed by Latvian architect Teodors Hermanovskis.
Galerija Māksla XO has two halls with a total area of 130 square metres, where solo and group exhibitions, as well as multimedia projects are held. Although the gallery focuses on contemporary Latvian art, it also features works by foreign artists. Regular presentations of 20th-century Latvian painting from around 1900 to the 1970s are also held.
