M’archers

M'archers is the latest (and also the most affordable) eatery to be opened by Mārtiņš Rītiņš, Latvia's most famous food persona, chef, and owner of the country's gold standard for gourmet restaurants – Vincents.

A combination of a deli, bakery, and lunch restaurant, the concept of M'archers was the brainchild of Rītiņš and the team at the nearby Art Café Sienna. The new restaurant is located on one of the main thoroughfares of Riga's Art Nouveau district – Strēlnieku Street. Therein also lies the key to M'archers' unusual name: the Latvian word “strēlnieks” translates to the English word “archer”, whereas the “M” before the apostrophe is a reference to Mārtiņš himself.

Most of the delicacies found at M'archers are made from the best seasonal ingredients that Latvia can offer, as supplied by members of the local “Slow Food” movement. In the off-season, local ingredients are replaced by high quality produce from Italy and France, such as Brittany-grown tomatoes from Paris' Le Bon Marché.

The interior design at M'archers ir eclectic – antique-shop meets contemporary design. Just as everything on the menu has a story behind it, so, too, does each and every item of furnishings – the water cups made by the Kuzņecova Porcelain Factory go very well with the custom-made silverware served in wooden boxes.

Definitely try the healthy wild-game burgers!
