Shashlik in Mangaļi Restaurant

Author: Anothertravelguide.com0 COMMENTS

To fully savour the skewered meats that Latvians have adopted as a sort of national food, visit one of the very best shashlik eateries in Riga. Shashlik in Mangaļi can be found at the corner of Mores and Ostas iela, at the southern end of a leafy neighbourhood that was Europe's first "garden city," Mežaparks.
It seems inappropriate to speak of "interior design" here - the tables remind one of old-style classroom seating, the forks are cheap aluminium (no knives are available!) and the drinking vessels are of thickest glass. What's on offer is superb, marinated lamb, pork or chicken served with chopped tomatoes, lightly salted cucumbers and a pile of fresh greens under the friendly eye of the Georgian proprietor and his family.
