Galerija Istaba has a pleasant uniqueness that makes it a special place to visit in Riga. The small but enchanting art gallery on the ground floor is full to the brim with jewellery, souvenirs, greeting cards, and other items created by local artists, along with a bookshop that carries books by the Neputns publishing house.
The owner and founder, artist Linda Lūse, organizes monthly exhibits to highlight different types of art work - from decorative timepieces to serving trays, to bedroom slippers - all practical and all hand-made by various artists.
A convivial bar/café, the Istabas Bufete (Room Buffet), welcomes the visitor on the second floor. The atmosphere is friendly, and the food is first-rate. The menu changes regularly and you can decide what to order by consulting with the chef himself.
