The Black Beak Barber Shop and Reading Room

You won't find anything ordinary at Melnais knābis - "The Black Beak." Instead of a typical hair salon, the Beak has the aura and aroma of a timeworn library. High shelves hold stacks of books both old and new, even antiquarian - from literature to non-fiction to magazines. There is even a book exchange, so that you can add something to the shop's collection and take what intrigues you home.
Vladislav Savelyev got the idea of blending his expertise in hair styling with his interest in the arts while in Edinburgh, soaking in the atmosphere of the Athens of the North and finding inspiration in Scottish conceptual art. He also dreamed up the logo there, associating the barber's main tool, the scissors, with the beak of a bird. A visit to the resulting salon is a rare chance to groom your head both on the outside and the inside simultaneously!
