Rijksmuseum

Rijksmuseum, the "gold vault" of Dutch art, was closed for renovation in 2003 (the project designed by the Spanish architects Cruz y Ortiz is scheduled to be completed by 2008), but the southern wing of the building - Philips Wing - is still open and houses some of the most famous works of the Rijksmuseum collection. Paintings by Vermeer, Jan Steen, Frans Hals and Rembrandt are among the 400 exhibits - including, of course, the legendary Night Watch.
