En Suite Apartment

Amsterdam is a cosy city with a discrete charm, which is why if you want to get a closer feel of its essence, then you should stay in an apartment at the edge of one of the city's historic canals, rather than in a chain hotel. A number of flats have been transformed into small and homey bed and breakfast spots. Some are genuine treasures, so don't be surprised if you feel sorry to leave Amsterdam after spending a couple of days living in splendid surroundings. The En Suite Apartment can be found on the second floor of a house that was built in1675, in the Nine Streets district of the city (it is hard to imagine a better strategic location), at the edge of the city's main canal, the Keizarsgracht. From the living room's large windows, one can look out onto the picturesque scene below. In contrast to the bright show of colours reflecting in the canal waters and emanating from the windows of the neighbouring houses, the interior of this apartment is mainly in black-and-white tones. The wooden floors beckon one to the laconic but elegant fireplace in the living room, surrounded by soft rugs, cushions and pillows, and providing for an extra homey atmosphere on those dark winter evenings. The small kitchen and bedroom are furnished with all of the necessities for making one feel at home. In the bathroom, you will find locally produced Rituals brand cosmetics from the Netherlands. The owners live nearby, on the ground floor of the same building, and will be glad to recommend the best breakfast, lunch and dinner spots in the city. Naturally, the apartment is equipped with the required creature comforts for contemporary travellers, including free wireless internet access, as well as a CD and DVD player.
