Dauphine

Author: Anothertravelguide.com0 COMMENTS

The location is neither particularly inspiring nor noteworthy in any way: a residential and office neighbourhood. And yet you would do well to visit the place for two very simple reasons: the décor and the cuisine. For example, come for a Sunday brunch at the time when most of the best restaurants in the city are closed. Dauphine is housed in a former Renault showroom, and the motoring aura of the bygone days is echoed both by the interior and the name. In 1956 Renault Dauphine was one of the most exported French car models, particularly popular in the Netherlands. The interior surprises with an excellent feel for space. Red seats, simple wood tables, lots of chrome. A 12-metre long bar counter and an impressive installation of wine bottles behind it. Excellent oysters. The food is all right but not sensational. You won't regret coming anyway - what you will find is a feel of a slightly different Amsterdam.

Dinner for one approximately EUR 30.
