Sprmrkt

Don't be fooled by the name - Sprmrkt has nothing to do with a classical supermarket, although one formerly did operate here, and traces of a supermarket aura still remain, in the good sense of the word. Sprmrkt is Amsterdam's trendiest concept store - a true indicator of what's hot and what's not. In the place of milk, baguettes, fruit and spaghetti, you will find the essence of current fashion and lifestyle on the store shelves. The unobtrusive entrance gives no indication of the luxury inside, while the vast store space, with its slightly worn concrete floor and perfectly directed industrial chaos in the interior, serves as an ideal background for the exposed crème de la crème of conceptual and avant-garde fashion. Along with articles by young, stylish and promising designers, one will also find such niche classics as Martin Margiela and Raf Simons. Furthermore, a great selection of books and design objects is available amid all the clothing.
Fashion slaves should also take note that Sprmrkt also operates an outlet in the legendary Nine Streets district (De Negen Straatjes). It offers unsold items from the previous seasons for much lower prices and in a much more modest interior, one that is appropriate for a supermarket.
