MENDO

The most creative bookstore in Amsterdam! MENDO offers crème de la crème of creative books - art, architecture, design, fashion and more. Its décor could not have been more suitable either - both simple and unique, it is entirely built from black books. Bookshelves are made of 6 tons of steel and are filled with thousands of black MENDO books. Empty spaces, created by removing those books, are used to display what is currently the very best in the field of fashion, photography, architecture and graphical design. MENDO also presents a special collection of XL books featuring Muhammad Ali (GOAT), Vivienne Westwood, David LaChapelle (Artists & Prostitutes), F1, Saatchi & Saatchi, Helmut Newton (SUMO) and more. With its well-balanced selection of creative books and its exclusive interior by Concrete Architectural Associates, MENDO definitely is one of the most inspiring stores in The Netherlands. This is one of those magic places where time slips by unnoticed, while you immerse yourself in browsing through perfectly exposed, huge photo almanacs.
In March 2012, after the announcement of MENDO going to London with CitizenM London Bankside hotel, they were happy to invite to MENDO's brand new webshop at mendo.nl.
At MENDO webshop you're welcome to browse virtual shelves, read the reviews, click that Add To Bag button as much as you like and still keep browsing.

This is a very chic and interesting bookstore. The salespeople we encountered were very friendly and welcoming....and I must add, very sharply dressed! There are lots of interesting photo books in this store that would make excellent conversation pieces for the home collection. Great spot in one of the most lively parts.

Excellent collection but not surprising. Arrrogant salesman more interested in money than photography.
Advice: Don't engage with any of the sales people, browse the books and order at Amazon.
