Wilanow Poster museum

The Wilanów Poster Museum is located at a slight distance from the city at a 17th-century palace. The palace itself is a jewel of Polish baroque, and the poster museum is in the former stables. The first poster museum in the world, opening in 1968, it still offers one of the most amazing collections of posters on the planet, with 55,000 posters. That such a museum can be found here makes sense, since Polish poster artists were among the first to raise posters to high art. The history of posters in Poland from 1892 to 2002 is covered, the most fascinating posters on exhibit being from the period of state socialism. There are also special exhibits, and the museum hosts an international biennale as well.
