Mielzynski Wine Shop and Bar

Author: Anothertravelguide.com0 COMMENTS

Although wine bars have become recent in-thing of Warsaw, the unsurpassed leader for its concept and styles is Mielzynski Wine Bar, the pioneer of this tendency. Its owner, Robert Mielżyński, has grown up in Canada (his parents emigrated from Poland during WWII), then studied oenology in California, but 15 years ago returned to Warsaw and opened the first wine bar/concept store in the city, in 2004. It's located in one of the creative epicenters of the city - in the territory of a former Lace Factory on Burakowska Street, about 10 minutes from the city centre. Mielzynski wine empire covers an impressive area of 600 m².

A wine shop, somewhat resembling a classic wine cellar with numerous wine-boxes lining up and forming something like a labyrinth, occupies just a part of this huge space. The bar is sited right next to it, and it offers most of the wines by glass as well. The owner, a passionate wine aficionado and a professional of the field, has created a unique collection of wines from across the world. Almost always present at the store, he readily shares his knowledge and experience. Adjacent restaurant offers a chance to savor wine together with a good meal. Its menu features a vast selection of snacks and boasts excellent steaks. Even bread is baked on-site, and while waiting order, you can observe bustle of cooks in the open-plan kitchen. In summer, variety of degustations and occasional concerts take place in the courtyard of the factory complex. The store operates as a wholesaler as well, and recently has opened its branch in Poznan.
Opened daily from 9.00 to 23.00
