Denis Simachev boutique-bar

Author: Anothertravelguide.com0 COMMENTS

Denis Simachev, a Russian fashion designer's boutique-bar currently is the most gossiped topic in Moscow. A wackiest place ever! It is one of the most flamboyant manifestations of the Moscow extremes. On the way along Stoleshnikov Pereulok - a small pedestrian street - suddenly a bright red cube comes into sight. On outside it looks like a showy decoration, red with golden floral patterns, characteristic to the traditional Russian spoons. Inside it is built in two levels - with no windows. A bar occupies an entire ground-floor. Its interior alludes to the Oriental express and the 19th century British pubs - saturated with the New Russians' luxury. A bar is fitted with sinks, covered with wooden planks. Above each sink - 2 brazen taps. You eat and drink at a sink, transformed into a table. On the right and on the left - compartment carriages, painted in black. A somewhat abstract boudoir ambience. Every detail - very artful. A small but exquisite menu. A good choice of drinks. This is not a place to have a dinner. The bar, however, is opened 24 hours, its public - a typical fashion crowd. A press release before its opening promised that Simachev's concept will "present the best and the most expensive components of luxury lifestyle." They say that granite for the floor has been extracted from the very same Ukrainian stone-quarry that provided material for the Lenin's Mausoleum. Crystal chandeliers - from the same French workshop used by Madonna and Elton John. Having ascended the central stairs before ones eyes unfolds amazingly light store premises - a whole ceiling is from glass. And, of course - Simachev's freshest collections, catalogues, etc. A terrific atmosphere!
