Reka

Housed in a former chocolate factory, the Red October creative district has lately been accused of placing business interests above all others, including art. Nevertheless, there still is an untamed atmosphere to the place. Here one will find the Strelka institute for media, architecture and design, the recently opened Red October art gallery and the most stylish hostel in Moscow. And of course, the Reka restaurant/club, with panoramic terrace vistas like no other in the city. On summer evenings, Reka is one of the most tempting dinner spots in the Russian capital, providing an unforgettable view of the sun setting over the Maskva River and city skyline. At other times of the year, the food and the people are the main reason to visit the restaurant. Since being taken over by the Ginza Group, Reka's European-style cuisine will not disappoint even the most discriminating gourmet diners, its kitchen being headed by one of Moscow's most promising young chefs, Artyom Martirosov. Perhaps the proximity of the river has also influenced the establishment's main emphasis on fish and other seafood. Many of the patrons look like they have stepped straight off a fashion runway, or out of the pages of Vogue magazines. The elegant waitstaff provide excellent service, and the prices are quite reasonable by Moscow standards.
