An innovative interpretation of the traditional Russian cuisine. The most famous Russian chef, Anatoly Komm, have set off to explore the secrets of the molecular gastronomy and offers a so called haute cuisine at his restaurant Varvary, opened in January 2008. Nothing tastes the way you may expect, nor can you guess what the actual ingredients of your meal are, unless you try it. Even the simplest rye bread in Komm's interpretation resembles a tempting chocolate pudding placed on a tablespoon. Varvary offers a nine-course tasting menu, and a dinner might consume up to three hours. Tables are set with exquisite silver tableware and crystal glasses, and none the less extravagant is the décor. Pricy fabrics and other materials and prevailing palette of red and black. It balances on the verge of being totally over-the-top, yet strangely enough it suite the place very well.
The second floor houses another Komm's restaurant - Kommpartia, which offers traditional Russian fare just to satisfy one's basic need for food.
