Casa Leto

Author: Anothertravelguide.com0 COMMENTS

Although there is no shortage of the so-called mini hotels in St Petersburg, only a few of them can boast real charm. Casa Leto, however, is one of them. The location is perfect - just a five-minute walk from Saint Isaac's Cathedral and some ten minutes from the Nevsky Prospekt. This place used to house a communal flat which has now been transformed into a cosy b&b. The owners are a married couple: a Mr Adriano Leto who has British and Italian blood running in his veins, and his wife Tatyana. As you climb the stairs to the second floor and open the door of Casa Leto, you feel as if you were visiting a good acquaintance from the circles of trueborn St Petersburg intellectuals. The interior has lovingly preserved all the historical details of the 19th century building; the rooms are large enough (and each with a slightly different decor), well-lit and equipped with antique furniture, ornament-adorned ceiling, a linen bed cover and armchairs upholstered with the same fabric.
An antique bookcase with books in the lobby, a potted flower here and there - feels just like home. Everything is nice and cosy, nothing over-the-top about this place. A wireless internet connection is provided. Just a minor drawback, however - at the time when anothertravelguide.com visited Casa Leto, there were full-blown street renovation works going on in front of the building (a familiar picture often encountered all over St Petersburg), making access slightly different.
