Bar Canete

Bar Canete

Caňete is a vibrant tapas bar favored by locals in the El Raval district of Barcelona - a neighborhood that, until recently, was known as the city's "wild child", i.e., lots of Pakistanis and other immigrants, and the "natural habitat" of the city's prostitutes and pick-pockets. In the last few years, El Raval has seen an improvement in its image, and it is also home to several of Barcelona's most noteworthy cultural institutions, including MACBA, Arts Santa Monica, The National Library of Catalonia, and the Filmoteca.

Having opened its doors three years ago, Caňete embodies the essence of a true Spanish tapas bar: it's always packed, it's loud, and everything happens at the bar - behind the counter of which there are ten cooks (at least), working away at their steaming pots and pans. In short, the place is hustling and bustling. Caňete specializes in a modern-day interpretation of traditional Spanish tapas. A great place for lunch!
