La Residencia, Deià

La Residencia is one of Mallorca's most legendary hotels, and its location is just as legendary - the artistically bohemian village of Deià, famous for having been home to the British poet Robert Graves. The hotel is made up of four separate historical buildings, and it used to belong to Richard Branson; now it is owned by the Orient Express hotel chain. Since its beginnings, La Residencia has been a favourite of celebrities - Andrew Lloyd Webber celebrated his 60th birthday here, and it was also one of the places where Princess Diana sought refuge from her broken marriage. Surrounded by olive and citrus trees, the hotel is ideal for endeavours of both kinds - a truly peaceful oasis wrapped in a cocoon of luxury. La Residencia even has its own art gallery and sculptural garden, as well as the gourmet restaurant El Olivio.
