Magasin 3 Exhibition Hall

The Magasin 3 Exhibition Hall, founded in 1987 as a non-profit gallery of contemporary art, regularly hosts shows by internationally acclaimed artists. Currently one of the leading Swedish institutions of contemporary art, the gallery boasts a collection of 600 works of art, mostly purchased at art shows and, over the course of 15 years, frequently exhibited in museums worldwide. The gallery is housed in a 1930 warehouse in the territory of Stockholm's old free port; thus works for exhibitions are often created with the vast open space in mind - frequently those are spatial arrangements which make good use of the available space, from the floor plane to the ceiling fixtures. Quite logically, the concept of the gallery places emphasis on three-dimensional and site-specific works of art. Every year, the centre hosts 6-8 large-scale exhibitions; the only work permanently on view is the Dawning installation by James Turrell.
