International Museum of the Reformation

The International Museum of the Reformation is dedicated to the history of the religious movement launched by Jean Calvin. With the help of various historical objects, books, manuscripts, paintings, etchings and modern audio-visual means, the museum offers an insight into the epic history of the movement born in the 16th century in Geneva. The museum is housed in the prestigious 18th-century Maison Mallet, a building erected on the site of the original cathedral monastery where in 1536 the basic principles of the Reformation were proclaimed. An underground tunnel links the museum to the archaeological site underneath the Cathedral of St Peter, thus creating the new Geneva landmark of culture tourism known as Espace Saint-Pierre.
