Zoubov Foundation Museum

Author: Anothertravelguide.com0 COMMENTS

Three mansions were built in Rue des Granges between 1720 and 1723 in an attempt to emulate the style of the French aristocratic residence of the time. In the early 1900s, this was the home of the well-educated and sophisticated Countess Zoubov whose collection of art objects, acquired during her travels in the 1920s, is currently displayed in one of the apartments. Countess Zoubov's collection was originally created aiming to achieve a particular style of interior design in keeping with the decorative traditions of the 18th-century French salons; therefore the decor features furniture by French artisans, rare ceramic pieces, Sèvres porcelain, carpets and 18th-century French painting.
