La Vouivre

The best breakfast place in the fashionable Paquis district of Geneva! It is worth visiting at least for its décor and ambiance conjured up by Victorian chandeliers, candelabras, antique mirrors and furniture. Almost each chair and table is unique and different. It seems that slightly weatherworn interior items have arrived there along with the flow of time, in the course of several centuries. They are supplemented by some rare finds from the legendary Geneva's flee market, Plainpalais. The hostess too, always aptly dressed, has adorned herself with an impressive size art deco glass necklace or some other extravagant item from her family jewelry case. Amazing coziness pervades the place, with quiet classical music in the background and no hurry whatsoever - people sip their coffee and read a morning newspaper, and it feels like being submerged in a different reality. Coffee, croissants, sandwiches - a perfect way to start a new day, and prices are very friendly as well.

21, rue des Paquis
