The classics of Geneva! It is a historic brasserie, loved by locals and located not far from the Old City Bourg-de-Four square, yet at the same time standing slightly aside from anything else. It features traditional cuisine and a very good selection of Swiss wines. The square itself has been a favorite meeting place since Roman times already. It was a marketplace then, but in the 16th century housed numerous protestant refugees from Italy and France - even the houses were reconstructed and additional top floors built to provide lodging for newcomers. Yet it's worth visiting not only for its 16th, 17th and the 18th century architecture but for its special ambiance as well. Another popular place, located just nearby, is Cafe de la Clemence, named in honor of la Clémence, the largest bell of St. Peter's Cathedral.
