Honold

When visiting the chocolate capital of Zurich, it's practically impossible to not fall into sin with sweets, but if you are determined to experience your debauchery with style, then you must go to Honold. Under the ownership of one family since 1905, the current head of the company is the original founder's great-granddaughter. The inside of the shop may seem quite mundane and even boring upon first glance, but as soon as you taste one of Honold's chocolates (they give out free samples), you will immediately understand why many locals are literally addicted to the stuff. ...truffles filled with Baileys or cognac, not to mention the legendary Kirsch-Stengeli, which they still make by hand and according to the traditional recipe. Be prepared to say goodbye to your sanity, and hello to calories! (And don't be surprised when after coming out of a Honold-induced haze, you find a good-sized dent in your credit card statement – good things don't come cheap!)
