Although comparatively small, the London Design Museum, founded in 1989 by Sir Terence Conran has always been appreciated not only for the intriguing exhibitions but also as an ideal place for design: it's an elegant building standing on the Thames embankment next to the Tower Bridge with a fabulous view on London - a typical example of the 1930s Modernist architecture.
Alongside regular exhibitions various events of the Talks + Courses programme are also held at the Design Museum for which the most influential figures of contemporary architecture, fashion and design are invited as guest speakers and lecturers. A significant deal of importance is attached to the educational programme which involves not only children but also the whole family. The Design Museum, considered to be among the best in the world, pays equal attention to the history of design and all the latest trends.
