Le Cafe Anglais

London's best new restaurant of 2007: a light spacious room, huge windows and almost completely white stylised Art Deco decor. A meat grill slowly rotating on the fire; elsewhere a stylised chair-height wall separates a brasserie section from the rest of the room. A proper French-British menu - admittedly, without any grand surprises. While the incessant hum of conversations may not be the right background for a romantic dinner, it would suit a nice business lunch down to the ground. Le Café Anglais is still very popular - do book a table in advance.
