One of the currently most recognized Latvian fashion designers, Katya Shehurina has launched her first boutique in London in the beginning of March. The project has been conceived and developed in cooperation with Putti art gallery.
The tiny shop resembles a true oasis of femininity, while the personality of the owner exudes lightness but her garments tell the story of her own life - her dreams, her foibles, her real and imagined journeys. Walls seem bearing a patina of time, few childhood toys here and there, and a suitcase in the center of the room serves as a chest for accessories. Few more travel related items are casually scattered around and a sense of fantastic coziness fills this place. To please yet, at the same time, to maintain her own uniqueness are both equally important to the owner. Aroma of powder seems lingering in the air, a crisp sound of silk and a flutter of ruffles and ribbons...and, quite possibly, a volume of Choderlos de Laclos "Dangerous Liaisons" is hidden somewhere in the midst of those garments.
Jewelry and accessories by Latvian artists from Putti Gallery are exhibited in two glass showcases - the original works by Valdis Brože, Māra Šustiņa and Jānis Vilks. The shop is located in the very center of London, on the 3nd floor of KinglyCourt shopping complex, near Carnaby Street.
