Magnolia Bakery

Basically, good cakes and pastries is a weak point of American cuisine. If there are any to be found, usually they are French production. Magnolia Bakery is a total exception in this respect. No sign of French refinement - just simple homemade cakes and pastries with no sophisticated beautifications.
Occasionally, a confectioner himself, rubbing floury hands in an apron, may appear behind the counter. Mostly young people clad in jeans and T-shirts work there with knitted caps partly covering their crazy hairdos. An entire staff somewhat resembles a joyful company of good friends that has come up with a fun idea to compete in cake baking! You can watch their bustle in the kitchen while nibbling large cultivated bilberries off your delicious pastry, sip aromatic coffee and feel very much like at home. On top of all that you can savor a delicious banana pudding.
