Balances Restaurant and The Hotel

Author: Unda Putāne0 COMMENTS

Balances restaurant

Risotto with cabbage, chestnuts and pears. It's a fabulously tasty combination and a bit of surprise too, to call the culinary tune. Simplicity of the interior favors the enjoyment of a marvelous sight outside the windows. Murano chandeliers catch just a brief moment of guest' attention, before their eyes return to the oldest wooden bridge in Europe (built around 1300) and 34 m high water tower, that the best of all can be viewed from the terrace. An unexpectedly experimental cuisine for a restaurant located in a quite conservative sweet rosy hotel.

The Hotel

Regardless of certain boldness in its name, the Hotel possesses pleasant warmth and subtlety in its interior. A traveler of the 21st century, looking for a taste, aestheticism and style will appreciate it. Every accommodation of the hotel is devoted to a certain movie - a legend of cinematograph (for some of them even several). From Peter Greenaway's The Pillow Book to Bernardo Bertolucci's Last Tango in Paris and Pedro Almodovar's Matador. Mega photos on bedrooms' ceilings - obtrusive? Not at all! Refreshing!
The most stylish folks of Lucerne use to gather in the bar and frequently dine in the hotel's ultramodern restaurant Bam Bou. Admittedly, the content of its wine cellar (a see-through glass cabinet) is the best one in Switzerland (and the most stylish too).
25 accommodations - 25 world-famous movies. The most recommended ones might be Bernardo Bertolucci's The Sheltering Sky, a garden & park deluxe suite Nr. 5500 with an intimate bamboo garden, creating its very special atmosphere, or Nagisa Osima Ai no corrida, a corner junior suite Nr. 5503, pleasantly light and personalized. Unfortunately penthouse suits are not available there, as the whole upper floor inhabits the landlady herself.

- Swiss do not mow their accurate and grassy mountain slopes and vast meadows, as one might think, but graze by cattle. And the couple of centimeters high and smooth result is truly admirable.

- If you are fond of city life and museums, it might be useful to buy a Zürich CARD, that offers unlimited use any type of public transportation (including small ships cruising the lake) as well as entrance in more then 40 Zurich museums. Such a card costs 22 EUR and is valid for 3 days.
