Hotel Omnia, Heimberg and Vernissage

Author: Natālija Jansone0 COMMENTS

Hotel Omnia

Omnia is located in Swiss Alps, a small town of Zermatt, famed as a ski and mountaineering resort and a popular tourist destination. It does not comply with any conventional hotel standards and even in the heat of winter season is a marvelous spot for non-skiers as well. The hotel is situated high on rocks and getting there is a breathtaking adventure in itself. An environment-friendly electro mobile takes guests to a glass elevator, rising up through the
rock to the hotel. It seems like a magic and for a brief moment any sense of reality is gone! Omnia strictly safeguards its guests' privacy - after 11.00 p.m. a special card is required to use the elevator.
Scents of aromatic oils are sensed already at the very door, coming from a nearby spa. Yet, it is not a pleasure for one's nose only but feast for eyes, too. Every single interior detail is elaborated and carefully thought-out, distinguishing Omnia among many other hotels. At the fire place one can smoke a cigar, savor a glass of wine, champagne or freshly squeezed juice and browse a book from the hotel's library. You can also enjoy sunshine and alpine landscape from a terrace just next to it.
Glass stairs lead to 30 Ominia rooms, none of which is identical to another. A space for skis and boots is right at the door, the same way as in the lobby, leaving snow and moisture outside. In rooms, design in a high-tech style, everything is natural and environment friendly - starting from electric cookers and down-quilts to bluish mountain water, running from a tap. The hotel would seem an agreeable surprise also to high-tech style adversaries, as everything is perfect here - even curtain-fasteners!
Surprising here is absolutely everything - not only a huge TV screen, half of a wall size, and five different types of lighting. Also a mattress, seemingly hard and unwelcoming in the beginning, little by little subtly embraces a sleeper, allowing to sink in its comfy cuddle.
Each room and a suite have a lovely balcony with leather chairs, inviting to enjoy a breathtaking landscape of snowy alpine mountains such as Matterhorn, Monte Rosa and others.
A relaxation in a foam bath with a huge window viewing primordial rocks - it is a pleasure worth savoring to the fullest!
Omnia pampers its guests not only with massage showers and beauty procedures but offers also a sauna, a fitness studio, a Turkish bath, yoga and pilates, and all that inclusive. When it seems as good as it can get, you can wrap up in a soft robe, slid freshly massaged feet in soft slippers and go for a dip in a swimming pool, right there in the hotel. It is made in metal, embraced by black walls and ceiling - glossy and black, too. Swim languidly on your back and admire your reflection! From the indoor part of the pool you may swim out into open-air bubble bath with all the Swiss alpine peaks above your head. Paddle and sip champagne, being more than 1500 m above sea level - a genuine paradise!
A breakfast is fabulous, too. Either sitting at the common table or just by yourself, an aroma of freshly baked bread, with lovely yellow honey to go with it, pleasantly tingles your nostrils. Thanks to a special window design with no windowsills, the mountain ranges seem like fantastic pictures on the walls.
Nothing could spoil something like that, except, of course, a chef in love, whose cookery can delight only those, who use to overdo the salt themselves. For others the nearby restaurants might seem a better choice.

Heimberg

Heimberg, located in Zermatt, too, features an authentic design and a fabulous alpine region cuisine. Its interior is an enjoyment in itself! Located close to Omnia, this restaurant amazes its guests from the very entrance, highlighted by an original chandelier, created from forks and glasses. The decoration is made by Heinz Julen, the offspring of the Julen family - the holders of this place. At Heimberg, as elsewhere in the town, natural materials, wood in particular, are prevailing. You can dine also outside on the terrace, secluding yourself from gazes of others in a cozy pergola. Yet, if no intimate tete-a-tete is on your mind, then savor a delicious meal at one of ascetic tables, seating up to eight persons. A glass wall lets you watch a bustle in the kitchen, moreover, under sounds of live music.
King Bolete Soup, served in an exquisite manner - from a tureen, is definitely worth trying. Heimberg offers a special a surprise menu - a unique chef's choice for a particular guest - and you never know with what exactly a master of cookery will come up!

Vernissage

There are not so many, who wouldn't like to savor a good movie and some culinary masterpiece - all at the same time. Created by Zermatt artist Heinz Julen, Vernissage integrates the best Swiss traditions of art, moviemaking and gastronomy, simultaneously broadening an understanding of each of them. Unfortunately, Vernissage welcomes its guests only in winter -usually from December to April.
An individual taste and a special atmosphere are sensed in every single spot of this unique venue - let it be a bar, a cinema or a gallery. The trendy bar offers an excellent choice of wines, liquors and cocktails, as well as an exclusive opportunity to taste 25 years old Guatemala rum, prepared in wooden barrels. The same building houses an amazing gallery, featuring fantastic light installations and the international level modern art.
Watching a movie is a true delight not only thanks to comfortable chairs. The chef, Luiz Romo, offers superb hors d'oeuvres and a selection of main courses along with fine wines to go with a meal and a movie itself. It feels like at home, only the design is much better! You can enjoy this special opportunity of fusing cinema art with a wonderful food and ambience for about 40 dollars per person.
