Bali Island

Bali Island

The island of Bali in Indonesia is one of the most desired diving locations for underwater world aficionados. Bali has long since become a mainstream destination and a dreamland for those searching for the true meaning of life, partly thanks to Gilbert's "Eat, Play, Love" novel and the same name movie. Bali is a very special place, indeed, with unique nature and peaceful ambiance. While savoring the Hindu philosophy encouraged balanced and stresses life of the island, it's worth checking out its most intriguing dive spots along its coastline as well. Less advisable is the heavily commercialized and touristy southern part of the island as diving is quite monotonous and not many corals are left there either. The eastern side, in contrast, e.g., Padang Bay, is a genuine divers' paradise. Although perhaps not entirely intact, the underwater here guarantees meetings with multitudes of warm-water fish. Bali's waters are home to ocean Sunfish or Mola Mola - the heaviest known bony fish in the world. Its width (including its fin) often equals its length. If you are lucky to meet this silvery creature, you may already count that your diving trip has been a great success! Also several shipwrecks have found their final resting place in the waters near the island.
Padang Bay provides professional services and there are numerous shops selling diving equipment.
