It's a place that boasts Olympic history. In 1964 and 1976 Olympics, Patscherkofel steep slopes hosted men's downhill race. Therefore, quite understandably, it draws a greater number of skiers than any other Austrian resort, e.g., Axamer Lizum and Nord Park. Yet let's leave a rivalry between skiers and snowboarders alone this time. An amazing variety and a peculiar ramification of Patscherkofel pistes kindle a great excitement among snowboarders as well. Aside from long pistes shooting down the sheer mountain slopes, woods are intertwined with numerous connections that are even more thrilling for snowboard lovers. While Nord Park has just one broad downhill highway that brings you to the very bottom, Patscherkofel offers a great variety of routes crisscrossing the face of the mountain, interconnecting different pistes and snaking down the slopes and through the wood. Speeding down there is a great adventure in itself! Although it's quite crowded on a sunny day, it doesn't spoil a romantic sensation that fills the air. And again - look for fresh snow along the sides of pistes. Patscherkofel is located just 20-30 min. from Innsbruck by a Skibus and has slopes suitable for children and beginners as well.
