The restaurant Immervoll, a long-time local favorite, changed its name to Gasthaus Pöschl when the owners split, but otherwise, it's as if nothing has changed - there's the same friendly atmosphere and it's still always full. The current owner is the talented actor and chef, Hanno Pöschl. Also unchanged is the basic menu - traditional Viennese fare with a slight Italian accent. The interior design is simple and unassuming, and guests feel just as comfortable at the bar as at the small, wooden tables.
Gasthaus Pöschl's winning trumps are the favorable relationship between price and quality, and its authentic Viennese lunch-spot atmosphere. The daily crowd of local creative types seem to have discovered this as well.
According to the locals, Gasthaus Pöschl has the best schnitzel in Vienna (17.50 EUR), and even though the schnitzel is pretty good most everywhere in Vienna, in the old Immervoll it truly is first-rate. Their arugula-avocado salad is fresh and crisp, the dressing - flavorful, the choice of desserts - extensive, and a glass of wine, for instance Grüner Veltliner or Riesling, is available for under 4 EUR.
