Suomutunturi

Located 14 km beyond the Polar circle, in the midst of nowhere, Suomutunturi amazes with its excellent facilities and services, even though the nearest town (and not even a very big one) is located 50 km away. The resort features modern, cozy Scandinavian style cottages and brand new, completely furnished twin-houses. All the cottages are located near downhill pistes and offer beautiful views of the ski slopes. They are not very high, however, more like large hillocks, which perhaps is the reason why cross country skiing is particularly well developed there. The overall length of Suomutunturi cross country ski routes is 120 km with trails leading around and through the village, making circles around the downhill skiing mountain and around the lake.
In the darkness of polar night, half of the entire trail length is electrically lit from 15.00 until midnight. They are with ups and downs and of various levels of complexity for everyone to enjoy.
