HIGH END 54

Author: Tabita Sīmane0 COMMENTS

HIGH END 54

High End 54 is housed in a 1906 building of a shopping centre. The impressive-looking stone façade still features bullet holes dating from World War II. The film theatre, opened in 1949, originally served as the auditorium of the GDR State Film Archives. Today the imposing entrance, adorned by graffiti and layers of old film posters on the walls, creates the atmosphere of a truly anarchistic alternative place - an impression further confirmed by the theatre's traditional repertory of indie films.
