Meteora

From time immemorial, people have climbed rocks for religious purposes - to access holy sites and shrines. Greece's monastery rocks of Metéora offer a very special rock-climbing adventure. The complex comprises six 15th - 16th-century monasteries built on natural sandstone pillars.
As conglomerates, the rocks have geologically formed without a monolithic structure. They are reminiscent of a massif of a mortar and stone mix; with every step you make, stones may become loose and fall out - a feature that adds that extra touch of adrenaline.
